Inspired by Moorcroft

We love to look at the Moorcroft pottery at Cannon Hall museum. Back in December there was a special exhibition. Over 3,000 people from all over the UK attended to see Moorcroft’s new ranges, meet the Moorcroft designers and antiques expert Eric Knowles. It was really inspiring to talk with the designers, finding out the root they took in their education to get to be a Moorcroft designer, finding out what inspires them in their designs.

It was great looking round, but after a while Rosanna got bored and with even Christmas baubles costing £100, it was time to leave before anything was broken!

After talking to the Moorcroft designers we felt inspired to design our own Moorcroft winter plates. We followed (simplified!) the Moorcroft design procedure.
First sketching in pencil.

Filling in with watercolour.

Outlining in pen, imitating the tube lining.

  8. We enjoyed a visit to the Moorcroft factory, watching the designers at work, when we were in Stoke back in the summer. We too couldn't afford to buy anything, just looked and admired. Your designs look great, well done.

  9. The pottery is gorgeous, I can see why it costs so much. I would have been cautious with the kids too. Your designs look great!

I've not heard of this pottery. I like the tattoo style of this work.
