British Summer time begins...

Since the clocks went forward on Sunday, we've managed to get out for a walk each day. It's not easy when it's still very cold, but the British Summer doesn't last for long so we have to make the most of the light nights!

Togged up in snow boots, hats, gloves, scarves, we set out.

The kids re-lived their toboggan jump from 10 days ago,
and three children ended up with very muddy bottoms!

Last Summer we had walks most evenings, it's a great time in the evening, just to be together without any distractions. And also a great way to get fit, I lost 19lbs last year, with a combination of weightwatchers and 'power walking'.

It's sometimes an effort to get out, but almost always worth it!

Hathersage Outdoor Pool

We've managed to tick off another activity from our Summer Wall, a trip out to Hathersage, and a swim in the outdoor pool.
LinkWe always do the same, swim, have chips with ketchup and then

finish off with a play in the park.

Happy days :)

Summer Wall

After our lovely holiday in Norfolk, we were all feeling slightly depressed to return home and rain to return.

I saw this brilliant idea on another blog, a Summer wall.

So on Saturday, while it rained we all sat and drew pictures and wrote about the places and things we wanted to do this Summer.

Here are some of our wishes!

And this is Reuben's idea, 'Go in the playground'.
The boat playground at Robin hood's bay.

The Sun is no where to be seen this Summer, so we've painted one!

Home ed visit to Brodsworth Hall

A couple of weeks ago, we went on a home ed visit to Brodsworth Hall, near Doncaster.
My favourite English heritage property.

The sun shone all day, mummies chatted and kids played happily all day long.

We had loads of time to explore the gardens and house.

A rare 'real' Summer day!

Weight watchers and Wet walks

On Thursday I was given this little stone at weight watchers for losing a stone in weight. I'm just half a pound from my goal weight.

On Thursday I couldn't believe Friday's weather forecast, a whole month's rain in a day!
But it was right on Friday it rained and rained and rained!
This Summer despite the bad weather, we try and take a family walk most evenings, so on Friday, in the rain we set off for a walk.

On Saturday, Geoff found a route with paths, Reuben still managed to get muddy

Huge pile of muddy jeans in the washer, we headed off for Sunday lunch at my Mum's and to watch...
Federer win Murray.

Summer stuff

Team selection for match attax.

Reuben in the clubhouse
Rosanna was too quiet, we found her tucking into weightwatchers cookies. Glad someone liked them!

Worsbrough res.

Grub found in the willow leaf.
Tiny pink Oak leaves
We are all enjoying the glorious Summer weather, walks around the reservoir and to Wentworth castle gardens. Chatting and spotting things.
Girls collecting and working out how to play match attaxs. Rosanna eating anything and everything!
The girls have finished the cooking course, and the sports sessions finish this week.

Luminere

Just found the photos from our visit to the Luminere in Locke Park. I organised this visit and it poured it down with rain and wewere supposed to have a picnic, but it all turned out ok and was worth the wait in the pouring rain! The colours inside changed depending on the sun -which finally came out!
We had interesting discussions with the girls about enjoyment of the luminere, the rule was no running or bouncing on the side, difficult for children when it looks like a bouncy castle. It was interesting to compare how children and adults want to explore things differently, the adults wanted to lie and enjoy the atmosphere, the children wanted to sprint around!
