The good life?

After several months of neglect the garden was in a bad state. We've been busy doing jobs in the house, so jobs that should have been done in the garden through Autumn and winter got left.
When we finally ventured into the over grown wilderness, we really didn't know where to begin!
We both thought we could no longer continue with the garden,
but after a cup of tea, and a wonder around the garden, the tools came out and we started weeding here and there.

And after an hours weeding a day, for the past ten days, I've just about weeded the first bed. I've been digging up the grass and weeds and re-planting tubers and bulbs.

Geoff has started on the veg patches, potatoes are chitting in the conservatory

and young cucumber plants!
Can you remember our hens, Lady Gaga, Posh, Katie Price. Well, just before Christmas it turned very windy, so Geoff, put the hens in the poly tunnel.
and that's the last time we saw the hens!
Would have made a great headline for the News of the world!
A fox took all the hens in one go. But it didn't stop there it returned many time, ripping many holes in the poly tunnel :(
So hopefully soon, our garden will look like this again,
and we'll be well fed again!

So the good life is good, not perfect, but good!

Although I do know of one family, where the good life is perfect...

Perfectly well behaved children
well behaved pets
and perfectly cooked eggs.

Sometimes I wish my address was 5302 Grande Mansion, Playmobil World, but thankfully not that often!

Out of hibernation!

We had our first weekend away of 2012, a visit to Snettisham.
There were great whoops of excitement when the kids spotted tractor marks on the beach and in the distance a huge sandcastle.
Let the leaping begin...







and when the adults got tired of running and jumping, we had time to explore.

and after climbing huge sandcastles, why not do the opposite...
and explore deep quarries!

A week of home education...

This week, we have...
been to the cinema to see the legend of the guardian and cars 2.
found out about Newton's first law of physics.
practised singing with the home ed choir.
danced and sang around the kitchen.
got a new pet rabbit.
snuggled on the sofa with duvets and pillows and watched 'planet dinosaur'.
been to macdonalds.
found out how steel was first made on the home ed 'Brook to blade' educational visit.
tried to work out the marble madness extreme maze, without instructions.
become addicted to boggle.
experimented with toy cars to find out about forces and motion.
constructed with meccano and lego.
made posters out of the pokemon magazines.
had bindeez beads rolling all over the floor.
swimming and trampolining.
had lunch with Nanan.

And now we're back...

I'm just taking a break from sorting and putting away the Summer clothes, it flew by far too quickly! And we've already started with nasty bugs passing round the kids and adults :(
Well, I never expected to have such a big break from blogging, but I have. So I'll try and do a bit of a quick catch up and then get back to some serious blogging!!!!!
In August we had two family holidays in Norfolk, which added up to almost three weeks, and then we were busy busy busy in the garden. Of Course in the big garden there is weeding, cutting back brambles and harvesting of vegetables to be done.

I've been clearing back this patio area, maybe a wooden wendy house would like nice here!

We had a great pear harvest.

We also started work in the back garden. The children don't use this garden so much, so we have taken up one of the patio areas and today the firat blades of grass are appearing, which hopefully will make it more inviting. When I say 'we' took up the patio, I really mean Geoff, who at the moment has man flu!

Moving on to house stuff, we are the first family with children to live in this house, so some of the areas need to be made more child friendly. Also being a family of six, we need more than one loo, so builders will be starting soon.

Right now I need to pay for more space on the blog and then I'll see you all soon.
