Butterfly house

A week last Saturday was family day in South Yorkshire. There were various special offers, so we decided to visit the butterfly house in Sheffield.Earlier in the week temperatures had been hitting 17 degrees, so we really weren't prepared for the cold weather. I know there's loads of old sayings, like never cast a clout till May is out, but we chose to ignore it. So we headed straight for the butterfly house, so nice and warm.

Really amazing to have butterflies landing on your hand and head.

Feeding fruit and nectar mix to the parrots.

A colony of leaf cutter ants, so fascinating to watch. But we are not fascinated by the ants in the garden which are eating the broad beans!!!!

Amazing how close we could get to the butterflies.
Kids having lots of fun, with the Alpaca spitting water game. It was freezing, how can they have so much fun getting wet

At half hourly intervals there were different animal displays/feeding sessions. This is the parrot display.
Rosanna's favourite part, baby chicks.
Loads of time at the end for playing on the bikes. It was so cold, but the kids kept warm trying out the various vehicles.

Rosanna taking full advantage of the free rides. Poor freezing cold Daddy!
Well it was family day!
