Volatile light -mechanical sound and light environment

The Civic in Barnsley, hosted 'Volatile light'.
It is a mechanical sound and light environment with several layers of interest.

Firstly you saw the lights moving on their mechanisms in a semi lit room.

Then the background lights went off to show the just the lights moving,
with the mechanisms how hidden, it reminded me of stars and planets moving.

You could also watch the recorded trajectories of the lights
forming trails on large screens.

Everyone's favourite part of the exhibition was where you could create your own light painting, using light sabres, light up glasses and spinning wheels.

Choose a light up object ...

... make shape patterns with it and see it projected onto the screen.

The exhibition is touring the country and well worth a look, here is a link to iou volatile light
