Mathematical biscuits

We have started learning about ratios. In cookery, it's not the quantities that are essential, but the ratios of ingredients, so the amounts can be varied without effecting the taste or texture.
We made shortbread biscuits using the ratio 3:2:1 of flour, butter and sugar.
The girls wanted to make lots of biscuits, so worked out that a mug would be a good measure.
3 mugs of flour
2 mugs of butter
and 1 mug of sugar
Roll out and cut into shapes.
Bake at gas mark 4 for 20 minutes.
These are the biscuits left after the kids and builders had snacked on them. We had enough biscuits to last a week.
