VAT increases

Our first day back to 'work' after the Christmas break, and the government has increased vat to 20%. Not all bad news, at least maths was planned for the day!!
The girls worked out 20% of various numbers and then went on to split the cost of items into how much the shop would get and how much the government would get.
Imogen deduced two things from this:
1) buy things second hand to avoid vat.
2) we should have bought her birthday presents already, to save money.
