Cold weather

The cold weather gave us lots of learning opportunities. We measured the temperature and discussed the negative numbers.

Fern frost on the window. Called fern frost, because the it looks like the leaves of a plant.
We read about dew and frost and how it is formed. Frost is formed when the temperature of the ground goes below zero, which has happened lots this winter,
A patch of disturbed snow, with no footprints around. We tried to work out how this had happened. Was it a mole trying to get out from underground? or a bird?

Meekats, buns and French

We started our day, with what was meant to be just a quick look at the Meerkats, but this turned into a 90 minute look around Wigfield farm. I don't get to the farm that often, Geoff takes Reuben and Rosanna most weekends. So we really enjoyed looking at all the new animals and enclosures.

Then back at home we made chocolat buns and then Imogen and Jemima had their first french lesson with new tutor.

Chocolate cascades

Using junk modelling materials, we made chocolate cascade machines. The process was great for discussing the relationships between slopes, angles and speed.
